bee with rattle I used many techniques to create this little bee. I will show you how to decide between using satin vs fill stitches. How much of a design should be done in Design Center and what would would be easier to do in Layout & Editing. When to use the Separator Tool. How to decide in which order you will want to assign your stitch attributes.

You can do all kinds of fun things with text. I will show you how to get it to curve on top and on bottom so that it looks right. The program also has a Word Art feature and you can have text curving in every which direction. I will show you how to make a banner using Big Text. You can really use your imagination here, so have fun!

A person could spend dozens of hours trying to get something like this lyre symmetrical by manually trying to get the right side to match the left and never accomplish the feat. I tried for 10 minutes until "Eureka!" I remembered a technique i had just learned. I accomplished the feat in less than one hour.

For a real neat texture or depth perception, try appliqué. It can be as simple as this greek letter or a complex as you wish. i will also share with you a simple way to do machine appliqué.

Pe-Design is very advanced in that it allows you to use as many textures as you can think up. This takes practice, as you can see in my golden retriever. He was my very first attempt with creating textures. This very advanced feature is even easier in Version 2.0 because the update gives you some pre-programmed fills which you can change. You are also able to create your own programmed fills. Play with your textures and get some really professional results.

I thought this was the perfect gift to give my sister who had an orange male cat that loved grocery bags. I found the basic design in a counted cross-stitch book . Using Manual Punch, it took me 10 hours to digitize and 45 minutes to stitch him out. This was done on 18 count adia cloth. How many hours do you think you would have spent doing this by hand and would you be able to see afterwards?

Manual punching is something that intimidates my students but really it is something that can easily be learned and believe it or not it is actually fun. This was my first extensive manual punching project. I did it for a friend who was doing a viking wedding. Notice how the satin stitches goes perpendicular to the curve of the design. It took me 7 hours to scan,create the 3 basic designs shown here, resize and mirror image; creating a total of 12 designs and test sew. I really enjoy this technique and it is necessary to learn if you want to do logos for others.
